P E R S O N A L / A R T I S T D E V E L O P M E N T
As creative people, artistic and personal development are two natural interactions. Often when desiring to cultivate a music,
or any artistic form of creativity, a harmonious interaction between personal development and artist development is crucial to
every level of success, creative, business, personal, mental, physical and spiritual!
Life is you! If you are not functioning in your artistic life, your personal life will suffer. When your personal being is not grounded,
your artistic, creative and business life is at risk!
Due to the close ties between personal and artist development, this section will engage both. With a primary focus on personal
development, we embrace the common understanding that when one’s personal self is centered, it establishes the foundation for all else to grow!
The Personal Development section will explore, define and provide guidance on ways to enhance your personal development.
As this section expands it will be important that you spend some time each day, week and month working at your personal
development. Future Music Talks Sessions, Special Events and Multimedia will include personal development information,
practices and guidance to assist you.
Let’s begin with food for thought. Look at the two titles to your right. Click on the Artists Action Chart, The Artists Action Chart
was created during the 2006 Music Talks season. Artists globally contributed to its creation.
The Artists Action Chart outlines the basic practices that artists should be familiar with and exercising daily! If you are not, I
recommend printing it out and keeping it close so you can refer to it. Each action needs to become a habit!
Next, click on the Characteristics of Success & Failure Chart, it was provided by the Professional Education Institute. It shows
the results of an observation taken based on the characteristics between successful and non-successful people.
These two charts combined are the quintessential example of artist development and personal development. They further show the
close relationship between the two. The Artists Action Chart was created by many artists and musicians, while the Characteristics
of Success & Failure Chart was created by real estate investment millionaire Carlton Sheets!
Two totally different industries that share common practices.
